TEMPERATURE PROFILES

Perhaps the most important determining aspect of the area is its diurnal temperature profilethe difference between the peak heat of the day and the coolest pre-dawn hourswhich result from its elevation and proximity to the ocean. On the North Coast, there are five benchmark climatic regions: valley, mountain, coastal, coastal mountain, and inland mountain. Green Valley falls into the coastal climatic region, which is distinguished by relatively narrow temperature swings and, most importantly, by cooler daytime readings, typically ranging from the low 50s to the mid 80s during the peak growing season (from veraison to harvest).
